If your temperature gauge enters the red zone, immediately turn off your AC and turn your heater to full blast — this helps pull heat away from the engine. Water pump replacement varies widely — on some vehicles it's 2-3 hours, while on others where it's driven by the timing belt, it can take 4-6 hours.
