Oil Changes

Do electric cars need oil changes?

No, fully electric vehicles do not need engine oil changes because they have electric motors instead of internal combustion engines. Without pistons, valves, and a crankcase, there is no engine oil to drain and replace. However, EVs still require regular maintenance, including tire rotations, brake fluid checks, cabin air filters, coolant for the battery system, and sometimes gear reduction fluid. So while you skip the oil change, you should not skip service altogether. If you drive a plug-in hybrid, you do still need oil changes because it has a gas engine. In Miami's climate, keeping your EV's cooling and braking systems in top shape is essential. Motoro Cars' ASE-certified technicians can handle your EV maintenance and your gas or hybrid vehicles too. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to schedule service.
