What does code P0128 versus a coolant sensor issue mean?
Code P0128 means the engine coolant is not reaching the expected temperature, and while a stuck-open thermostat is the most common cause, a faulty coolant temperature sensor can produce the same code by reporting incorrect readings. The difference matters because replacing the thermostat will not help if the real problem is a bad sensor, and vice versa. Low coolant level can also contribute. The engine running too cool wastes fuel, increases emissions, and adds wear, so it is worth fixing even if the car drives fine. A computerized diagnostic reads live coolant temperature data and compares it against expected values to pinpoint whether the thermostat or the sensor is the culprit. At Motoro Cars in Miami, our ASE-certified, AAA-approved technicians diagnose the difference accurately. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to get the right repair the first time.
