Check Engine Lights

What does code P0455 mean for my emissions in Florida?

Code P0455 signals a large leak in your EVAP system, meaning fuel vapors are escaping instead of being captured and burned. Florida does not currently require an emissions inspection for most passenger vehicles, so a P0455 code will not cause you to fail a state test here. However, the leak still wastes fuel vapor, can produce a gas smell, and keeps your check engine light on, which masks any new problems that might arise. It also matters if you sell the car or register it in a state that does test emissions. The most common cause is a loose or worn gas cap, with hoses and valves next. At Motoro Cars in Miami, our ASE-certified, AAA-approved technicians use computerized diagnostics and smoke testing to seal the leak. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to resolve your P0455 code.
