Why is my brake pedal soft or spongy?
A soft or spongy brake pedal usually means there is air or moisture in your brake fluid, a fluid leak, or a failing master cylinder. When air enters the hydraulic system, the pedal sinks farther than normal and feels mushy because air compresses while fluid does not. Old brake fluid that has absorbed moisture also lowers the boiling point and softens pedal feel, especially in Miami heat and stop-and-go traffic. A pedal that slowly sinks to the floor points to a leaking master cylinder or line and needs immediate attention. This is a safety-critical issue you should not ignore. At Motoro Cars, our free brake inspection includes checking your fluid, lines, and master cylinder. Our ASE-certified techs in Wynwood and Doral can diagnose and fix it. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 today.
