What does code P0171 mean?
Code P0171 means the engine is running too lean on bank 1, meaning there is too much air or not enough fuel in the air-fuel mixture. Common causes include a vacuum leak, a dirty or failing mass airflow sensor, a weak fuel pump, clogged fuel injectors, or a faulty oxygen sensor. A lean condition can cause rough idling, hesitation, poor fuel economy, and over time can damage the engine if ignored. Because several systems can produce this code, smoke testing for vacuum leaks and checking fuel and sensor data is essential. At Motoro Cars in Miami, our ASE-certified technicians use computerized diagnostics to read live fuel trim data and locate the exact source of the lean condition. We are AAA-approved in Wynwood and Doral. Call (786) 634-2002 or (786) 633-3220 to get P0171 diagnosed accurately and restore smooth performance.
