What does code P0401 mean?
Code P0401 means insufficient exhaust gas recirculation flow, indicating the EGR system is not routing enough exhaust back into the intake to reduce emissions and combustion temperatures. Common causes include a clogged EGR valve, carbon buildup blocking the EGR passages, a faulty EGR valve, or a bad sensor. Symptoms can include rough idling, knocking or pinging, and a check engine light. Carbon clogging is very common in higher-mileage engines and sometimes the passages simply need cleaning rather than full part replacement. A computerized diagnostic confirms whether the valve, the passages, or a sensor is the problem. At Motoro Cars in Miami, our ASE-certified, AAA-approved technicians diagnose EGR faults accurately to avoid unnecessary parts. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to get your P0401 code diagnosed and your EGR system flowing properly again.
