What does code P0442 mean?
Code P0442 means a small leak has been detected in the evaporative emission control system, which is responsible for containing fuel vapors. The most common and easiest cause to fix is a loose, cracked, or worn gas cap, so tightening or replacing the cap is the first step. If the code persists, the small leak could be a tiny crack in an EVAP hose, a leaking seal, or a purge or vent valve that does not close fully. Because small leaks are hard to see, a professional smoke test is the most effective way to find them. At Motoro Cars in Miami, our ASE-certified, AAA-approved technicians use computerized diagnostics and smoke testing to pinpoint even minor EVAP leaks. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to resolve your P0442 code and stop fuel vapors from leaking into the air.
