Oil Changes

Why does my car burn oil between changes?

A car burns oil between changes usually because of worn engine seals, piston rings, or valve guides that let oil seep into the combustion chamber where it gets burned. Older and high-mileage engines are most prone to this, and you may notice the oil level dropping, blue-tinged exhaust smoke, or a burning smell. Low oil from burning is dangerous because it can leave your engine under-lubricated between changes, leading to overheating and accelerated wear. Miami's heat can worsen oil consumption in aging engines. Switching to a high-mileage synthetic oil with seal conditioners often helps reduce consumption. The key is to diagnose the cause and monitor your oil level closely. Motoro Cars' ASE-certified technicians can inspect your engine, recommend the right oil, and check for leaks during our $29.99 oil change. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220.
