Oil Changes

Why is my oil black so quickly after a change?

Oil turning black soon after a change is often normal because fresh oil contains detergents that clean and suspend contaminants from inside your engine. As the oil circulates, it picks up carbon, soot, and old deposits, which darken its color. This is usually a sign the oil is doing its job, not necessarily that it has gone bad. However, if your oil turns very dark and feels gritty or sludgy within a few hundred miles, or if you smell burning, that could point to an engine running too hot or excessive deposits that need attention. In Miami's heat, oil can darken a bit faster. The best way to know is a professional inspection. Motoro Cars' ASE-certified technicians will check your oil and engine condition during a $29.99 synthetic oil change with a 33-point inspection. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220.
