Why is my steering wheel hard to turn?

A steering wheel that is hard to turn usually means a problem in the power steering system, such as low power steering fluid, a failing pump, a worn drive belt, or in newer cars a faulty electric power steering motor or sensor. If the wheel is stiff mainly at low speeds or when parking, that strongly points to power steering trouble. Low or leaking fluid is the most common and least expensive cause, while a failed pump or electric assist unit costs more. Hard steering is a safety issue because it reduces your control, so it should never be put off. A quick inspection identifies whether it is a simple fluid top-up and leak repair or a larger component. Motoro Cars diagnoses both hydraulic and electric power steering systems across 40+ brands and fixes it correctly. Book a steering inspection at motorocars.com or call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220.
