Why are my brakes making a clicking or rattling noise?

A clicking or rattling noise from your brakes usually points to loose or worn hardware rather than the pads themselves. Common causes include worn anti-rattle clips or shims, pads that have a little extra movement in the caliper bracket, loose caliper bolts, or worn slide pins. The noise often appears over bumps or when you first apply and release the brakes. While a rattle is not always urgent, it can signal hardware that needs replacing, and ignoring loose components can lead to uneven pad wear or bigger problems. Sometimes a small stone caught in the brakes causes a temporary click. Because brakes are safety-critical, it is worth confirming the source. At Motoro Cars, our free brake inspection checks hardware, clips, and caliper mounting to pinpoint the rattle. Our ASE-certified techs in Wynwood and Doral can help. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220.
