Why are my brakes grinding when I stop?

A grinding noise when you brake usually means your brake pads are completely worn out and the metal pad backing is grinding directly against the rotor. This is a serious safety issue that quickly destroys your rotors and reduces stopping power. Grinding can also come from a stuck caliper, debris caught in the brakes, or rust buildup after sitting unused. If you hear metal-on-metal grinding, you should stop driving and have the brakes inspected as soon as possible, because continuing damages expensive parts and lengthens your stopping distance. At Motoro Cars, our free brake inspection identifies exactly what is grinding and whether your rotors can be saved. Our ASE-certified, AAA-approved technicians in Wynwood and Doral can get you back on the road safely. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to schedule right away.
