Why is my AC making a hissing noise?
A hissing noise from your car AC can be completely normal or a sign of a refrigerant leak, depending on when it happens. A brief hiss right after you shut off the engine is usually just refrigerant pressure equalizing inside the system, which is harmless. But a continuous hiss while the AC is running, especially paired with weaker cooling, often indicates refrigerant escaping through a leak or a problem with the expansion valve. Since refrigerant escapes as a gas, this hiss is sometimes your only clue that the system is leaking. At Motoro Cars, our ASE-certified technicians can quickly tell the difference and run a leak test if needed, so you are not left guessing. Catching a leak early keeps a small repair from becoming a recurring summer headache. Serving Miami from Wynwood and Doral, call (786) 634-2002 or book a diagnosis at motorocars.com.
