Yes, electric and hybrid cars still need brake service, even though they use regenerative braking that reduces wear. Regenerative braking slows the vehicle using the electric motor, so the friction pads see less use and often last longer than in a gas car. However, that lighter use creates its own issue, because pads and rotors that rarely engage can develop rust and surface buildup, especially in humid Miami, leading to noise or sticking. Brake fluid still absorbs moisture and needs periodic flushing, and calipers can seize from inactivity. So while you may replace pads less often, regular inspections remain important to keep everything moving freely and stopping safely.
