How do Miami rain and humidity affect my brakes?

Miami's frequent rain and high humidity affect your brakes in a few key ways. After heavy rain or sitting overnight, a thin layer of surface rust forms on the rotors, which can cause a brief squeal and slightly longer stopping distance until the pads wipe it clean during your first few stops. Standing water can also reduce friction temporarily, so braking gently after driving through puddles helps dry the brakes. Over the long term, humidity speeds moisture absorption into your brake fluid, lowering its boiling point and softening pedal feel, which is why regular fluid flushes matter here more than in dry climates. Constant moisture can also accelerate corrosion on calipers and lines. At Motoro Cars, our free brake inspection checks for rust, fluid moisture, and corrosion. Call our Wynwood shop at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220 to schedule.
