Brake Repair

Can I replace just the front brakes and not the rear?

Yes, you can replace just the front brakes without doing the rear, because front and rear brakes wear at different rates. Front brakes do most of the stopping work, often 60 to 70 percent, since weight shifts forward during braking, so front pads typically wear out faster and need replacement more often. It is completely normal and correct to service one axle at a time based on actual wear. What you should not do is replace only one side of the same axle, since both wheels on an axle should have matching pads for even braking. The key is measuring each axle so you replace what is actually worn. At Motoro Cars, our free brake inspection measures all four corners so you only pay for the brakes that need work. Our ASE-certified techs in Wynwood and Doral can help. Call Wynwood at (786) 634-2002 or Doral at (786) 633-3220.
