What is brake bedding and why does it matter?
Brake bedding, also called break-in, is the process of properly seating new brake pads and rotors so they perform their best. When brakes are new, controlled heat cycles transfer an even layer of pad material onto the rotor surface, which improves stopping power, reduces noise, and prevents uneven deposits that cause vibration. Skipping or rushing this step can lead to squealing, pulsation, and weaker braking down the road. A typical bedding procedure involves a series of moderate to firm stops from moderate speeds, allowing the brakes to cool between them, followed by gentle driving for a short period. Doing it correctly extends the life and performance of your new brakes. At Motoro Cars, our ASE-certified techs properly bed your brakes after installation and explain the break-in driving you should do. Your visit also includes a free brake inspection.
