Why are my new brakes squeaking?
New brakes can squeak for several normal reasons during the first few hundred miles. A break-in period, called bedding, is needed for the new pads and rotors to mate properly, and light noise during this time is common. Morning moisture and Miami humidity also cause a brief squeal from surface rust that clears after a few stops. However, persistent squeaking can mean low-quality pads, missing anti-squeal shims or lubricant on the caliper slides, hardware that was not properly installed, or the wrong pad type for your vehicle. If the noise does not fade after a couple weeks of normal driving, it is worth having the installation checked. At Motoro Cars, our free brake inspection verifies that hardware, shims, and lubrication are correct so your new brakes run quiet. Our ASE-certified techs in Wynwood and Doral can help.
